Muslim hearts open to the Gospel of Jesus Christ- TUESDAY UPDATE
We started the day in a Muslim village not knowing we were sharing Christ right by a Mosque. I (Alli) started up a conversation with a woman and a teenage boy named Modixu. They were both practicing Muslims, and I got to share the Gospel with them. They were both open, and had a lot of questions. Modixu began asking me questions about the Koran, and I could tell that he was genuinely curious. It was clear the Lord was doing something in his heart. Right at that time, a very angry man started getting in our faces and yelling at us to leave their village. His anger spurred us to quickly leave. Unbeknownst to us, Modixu followed us. He was asking so many questions and seemed genuinely curious about the Lord. I saw all over his face that the Gospel was affecting his heart!! A group of men ended up taking him into their group and answering his questions. He ended up following the team throughout the village, watching and hearing the Gospel being preached. He followed the group all the way to the van, where a team member (Erik) who the group was waiting on to leave and Erik got to have a conversation with Modixu and re-shared the Gospel and his testimony. He asked many more questions, such as “What is the difference between Jesus and Mohammed?, How do we know Jesus actually died on the cross?, Are you sure of that?” and Erik got to share with him that Jesus is a Living God, He is not dead, and that Erik was sure of this because of what God did in his life. Modixu ended up sharing his phone number and address with one of the disciple makers who will follow up later with him to answer questions and disciple him. Please pray for Modixu. We know it’s incredibly scary for him to consider losing relationships with his family. Pray that he would accept the good news of Jesus Christ and God would bring Christians into his life to love him and be a family to him!
The team is feeling good & everyone is tired but healthy. The Ethiopia countryside where we are working is beautiful. This afternoon a brief thunderstorm brought some wonderful temperatures. The temps are highs in the low 70’s & the lows are in the mid 50’. A nice break from Dallas heat. Please continue to pray for:
· Open hearts for the good news of Jesus
· Continued good health for North Americans
· Unity with our Ethiopian partners
· The new believers faith would be strengthened in the face of persecution
