Monday update- God is working in Muslim hearts

Bullet points from our 1st day of ministry:

-       Walked to a local Christian church in a heavily dominated Muslim and Ethiopian Orthodox village to encourage local believers who were struggling from the intense persecution.

-       As we walked we met Layla, a Muslim women. We shared the gospel with her and she believed in Jesus, but could not accept because her husband was a devout Muslim and she was afraid of the intense persecution she would experience. We prayed for her and that her husband would be open to hear the gospel. 

-       Prayed over a Christian woman that her faith would be a witness to her unbelieving husband. 

-       Many teams met resistance from Muslims who would acknowledge that the gospel was true, but they were afraid to accept Jesus at the risk of being kicked out by their family or killed. The desire to know God is strong and many people are acknowledging the truth, but are afraid of the cost that choosing to follow Jesus would bring. 

-       Talked with a young Muslim man who was resistant to the gospel and was confident that he worships one god while we worship three. The conversation was interrupted by another man who was upset that we were speaking with him. We were discouraged after this conversation because it did not seem that it was productive and was left unfinished. As we were driving home on our bus the young Muslim man who had been asking questions chased down our van to get a disciple maker’s phone number to continue talking and learning more about the gospel.

-       Closed off Muslim man was listening skeptically, and his posture changed after hearing the gospel and he accepted Christ 

-       Went to an Ethiopian orthodox family house, the family understand the gospel, but had questions about mediation of the saints.

-       Met a group of boys and teenagers which grew to 10-15 young people got to share the gospel.

Please pray for:

-       Open hearts to the gospel of Jesus Christ 

-       Our team has faced some spiritual warfare like feelings of apathy, feeling insecure, feeling discouraged.

-       Our teams traveled into some of the most closed off villages to the gospel, so there was a lot of rejection. Pray for continued encouragement for our team to continue to endure. 

-       Pray for the seeds planted to day to grow and for the entire suburb to be softened and open to the gospel

-       Continued good health for the North Americas 

-       Unity between North Americans and our Ethiopian partners

Ethiopia here we come - 2026 version

In a few short days (Friday, July 17th) the Ethiopia 2026 team will get on an airplane for the long flight to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  Our mission will be to share how Jesus Christ has changed our lives & how much he loves the people of Ethiopia.  This trip is a partnership between Watermark Community Church Young adults & E3 Partners ministry.  The “journey” to Ethiopia started long before getting on the plane as we had our 1 st  training meeting in early February of this year so we have been praying & planning for this trip for 6 months.   Our training and preparation for Ethiopia has consisted of support raising (learning how to share the financial need in healthy ways), immunizations (shots) party and cultural awareness training, practice sharing the gospel, roleplaying sharing our testimonies, and giving a biblical defense for the gospel for common Orthodox and Muslim arguments. Sunday Ethiopia Update- Team arrived & is health & safe

 Sorry for the delayed post but I didn't have wifi at the hotel Saturday night.  The team arrived in Addis Ababa healthy & safe.  All the bags arrived & everyone is excited to start our ministry Monday morning.  We had an 8 hour van ride today to our ministry site in Hosanna & met our Ethiopian partners & had an awesome worship service this evening preparing our hearts for what God has in store.   Please pray for: •        Ethiopian hearts would be receptive to the message of the Gospel 
 •        Unity between the North Americans and Ethiopian partners •        Continued good health for North Americans  •        Safety & good health for North American family members at home

Wednesday update - Faithful God drawing hearts to him

Day 3 was full of joy, repentance, and acceptance of Jesus. The team was encouraged as we saw many Muslims accept the Gospel. Starting off the morning, our team shared the gospel and testimonies with a Muslim family. After a long beautiful conversation, they all decided to put their faith in Christ. PRAISE THE LORD! Another highlight of our day, we came across a compound with a Muslim family working in the yard. They welcomed us with a place to sit and open ears. They were intrigued & wanted to know why North Americans would come all the way to Ethiopia to talk with them    After hearing the Gospel, he boldly said he accepted this message and asked for prayers to confidently share with his daughters, sons, and wife.  To leave you with an encouraging story - we were wrapping up the end of the day, resting on a porch on the main road.
